Green Tea Powder
In countless cultures throughout history, tea has been regarded as a wonder. It has been considered a healing tonic, a brain stimulator, a relaxant, a life prolonger... in general, in centuries old lore, tea has been regarded as a panacea. Green tea, the oldest form, contains biochemical compounds called polyphenols, which include flavonoids. Green tea contains the flavonoid EGCg, a potent antioxidant.Jarrow Formulas’ Green Tea is water extracted, produced from fresh leaves that are chopped, rolled, and quickly steamed, a process that retains polyphenols. Jarrow’s green tea consists of 40% polyphenols, including 30% catechins. Catechins are flavan monomers, the building blocks of OPCs. OPCs, OligoProanthoCyanidins, are polymers (or chains) of flavans. Catechins are generally more bioavailable and more potent an antioxidant than proanthocyanidins.
