Cats Claw, 500 mg
Cat’s Claw, also known as Uncaria tomentosa or Una de Gato, belongs to the family Rubiaceae. Uncaria tomentosa is a woody vine that grows over 100 feet in length as it attaches and winds its way up through trees in the Peruvian rain forests. The vine, which takes 20 or more years to reach maturity, is so named because its small, sharp thorns truly resemble a Cat’s Claw. For many years, native healers of Peru have used the inner bark of Cat’s Claw as an herbal preparation. This preparation has a variety of uses ranging from enhancing the body’s physiclogical defense ability to improving joint and gastrointestinal function.Cat’s Claw contains quinovic acid glycosides and six known oxindole alkaloids: isopteropodine, pteropodine, isomitraphylline, mitraphylline, isorynchophylline and rynchophylline. In addition to the oxindole alkaloids, other beneficial phytochemicals have been found to be inherent in the herb: proanthocyanidins, polyphenols, triterpines, and plant sterols such as beta-sitosterol, stigmasterol and campesterol.
